Twentynine Palms is in the Mojave Desert region of Southern California, just north of the Joshua Tree National Park and northeast of the San Bernardino National Forest. This leaves a narrow corridor for driving through to the bigger communities of Palm Springs, about 1 hour away, and San Bernardino, about 2.5 hours away. Twentynine Palms is about 180 miles north of San Diego and 140 miles due west of Los Angeles.
